The Light: Giving Back

Each week we strive to find new opportunities in the housing industry. In this edition of the Light, we choose to highlight instances of “inspirational wins,” when, against the backdrop of challenging circumstances, people demonstrate what is most important.

Our friends in the housing industry continue to inspire us as they mobilize during these trying times to help those most in need.

In April, #BuildersCare, a group of 20 public and private home builders banded together with suppliers to donate more than 200,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to first responders fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kohler utilized its supply chain expertise and manufacturing capabilities to take an open-source design of needed face shields from a concept to a scalable protype in just a few days. Kohler is now producing 9,000 face shields/day, with estimates to increase production over the next several weeks.

Taylor Morrison helped a groom surprise his busy fiancé with a wedding ceremony on the new homesite where their dream home was being built. The bride had been working 14-hour shifts on the front lines at three different Texas hospitals.

PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program delivered its 57th mortgage-free home for deserving veterans and their families as they transition out of the military.

These efforts represent just a fraction of what the great people in the housing industry do every day. We know there are many more rays of light amidst the challenges the country is facing during the current pandemic. As the country braces for another round of COVID-related impacts to the economy, we find hope in the inspirational wins where a focus on what’s most important can help keep us all moving forward.
